If you are starting from Freiburg Hauptbahnhof (the main train station), exit the station and head south on the Bertoldstraße. Continue straight for about 1 km until you reach the intersection with the Wilhelmstraße. Turn left onto Wilhelmstraße and continue for another 300 meters. Then, turn right onto Jacob-Burckhardt-Straße. The Gedenksäule will be on your left at number 19. The total walking distance is approximately 1.3 km.

From the Freiburg Hauptbahnhof, take tram line 1 towards 'Laßberg' or tram line 3 towards 'Zähringerstraße'. Get off at the 'Bertoldsbrunnen' stop, which is about 4 stops from the station. After exiting the tram, walk along the Bertoldstraße towards the east. Continue straight for about 400 meters, then turn left onto Jacob-Burckhardt-Straße. The Gedenksäule will be on your left at number 19.
