Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Freiburg's main train station (Freiburg Hauptbahnhof), exit the station and head north on the Kaiser-Joseph-Straße. Follow this pedestrian street for about 1 kilometer until you reach the large square called Platz der Alten Synagoge. From there, continue straight, and you will see the entrance to the Old Town (Altstadt). As you enter the Old Town, you will see the Schwabentor in front of you, which is located at Schlossbergring 2. It should take approximately 15-20 minutes to walk from the train station.

  • Tram

    If you are closer to the city center, you can take tram line 1 or 3 from any tram stop within the city. Board the tram heading towards 'Littenweiler' or 'Zähringen' respectively. Get off at the 'Schlossberg' stop. From the tram stop, walk south along the Schlossbergring for about 5 minutes, and you will arrive at Schwabentor, which will be on your left.

  • Walking

    If you are near the Freiburg Minster (Freiburger Münster), you can reach Schwabentor easily by walking. From the Minster, head south towards the Stadtgarten park. Walk through the park, and exit onto Schlossbergring. Continue walking for about 5 minutes, and you will find Schwabentor on your right.
