Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Freiburg's main train station (Freiburg Hauptbahnhof), exit the station and head east on Bismarckallee. After about 10 minutes, you will reach the Stadtgarten (City Park). Continue straight through the park until you hit the tram line. Here, you can catch tram line 1 towards 'Littenweiler'. Ride for about 10 minutes and get off at the 'Schlossberg' stop. From there, walk towards the Schlossberg hill and follow the path down towards the city center. You will reach the historic old town of Freiburg. Keep walking straight until you reach the Münsterplatz (Cathedral square). The famous Freiburg Cathedral will be on your right. From the square, walk straight down the street (Unterlinden) for about 5 minutes until you reach the intersection with Rue de l'Ancienne Douane. Turn left and continue walking for 10 minutes, and you will arrive at La Petite Venise in Colmar, which is just across the border in France.

    From the center of Freiburg (Münsterplatz), walk to the nearest tram stop, 'Münster'. Take tram line 1 towards 'Littenweiler'. After about 10 minutes, get off at 'Schlossberg' tram stop. Walk down towards the city center, passing by the Freiburg Cathedral. Once you reach the cathedral, continue straight on Unterlinden street. Follow it until you reach Rue de l'Ancienne Douane. Turn left and walk for about 10 minutes, and you will arrive at La Petite Venise in Colmar, France.
