Walking
From Freiburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station), exit and head east on Bahnhofstraße. Continue until you reach Kaiser-Joseph-Straße, a pedestrian zone. Turn left and walk approximately 800 meters. You'll pass the Martinstor gate on your right. Rathausplatz, where the Tourist Information is located, will be at the end of Kaiser-Joseph-Straße. The walk is about 15-20 minutes.
Public Transport
From Freiburg Hauptbahnhof, take tram line 1 or 3 towards 'Littenweiler' or 'Zähringen'. Get off at the 'Rathaus' stop (approximately a 5-minute ride). After exiting the tram, walk straight ahead for about 100 meters to Rathausplatz. A single tram ticket costs €2.50.
Taxi/Ride-Share
A taxi or ride-share from Freiburg Hauptbahnhof to Rathausplatz typically costs between €7-€10 and takes approximately 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic. Taxi Freiburg is a common taxi service.
Driving
Driving directly to Rathausplatz is restricted due to the pedestrian zone. The closest parking garages are Rotteckgarage and Schwabentor Garage. Parking fees typically range from €2-€3 per hour. Be aware that Freiburg has a 'green zone' requiring a special emissions sticker for vehicles; purchase one in advance for approximately €5 at Bürgerberatung im Rathaus, Rathausplatz 2-4, 79098 Freiburg, presenting your vehicle registration documents.
