Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the Old Town (Altstadt) area, start by heading towards the Neckar River. Walk along the Hauptstraße (Main Street) towards the east until you reach the Neckar riverbank. Once you are at the river, turn left and walk along the riverbank path (Neckarstraße). Continue walking for approximately 10 minutes. You will see the Old Bridge (Alte Brücke) ahead. As you approach the bridge, you will notice a small sculpture on the left side of the bridge entrance. This is the Brückenaffe, or 'Bridge Monkey'.

  • Public Transport

    If you are further away from the Old Town, you can take the tram. Board tram line 5 or 24 at Bismarckplatz (the main tram hub) and get off at the stop 'Heidelberg Altstadt'. From there, walk down the Hauptstraße towards the Neckar River. Once you reach the riverbank, turn left and follow the walking path along the river. After about 10 minutes, you will arrive at the Old Bridge (Alte Brücke). The Brückenaffe is located just to the left at the entrance of the bridge.
