Getting There

  • Walking

    Starting from Heidelberg's main train station (Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof), exit the station and head towards the main road (B37). Walk straight along the B37 for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the main intersection near the Neckar river. At this intersection, turn left onto the 'Alte Brücke' (Old Bridge). Cross the bridge and enjoy the views of the river and castle. Once you are on the other side, continue straight until you reach the path that leads up the hill. You'll see signs for the Philosophers' Way (Philosophenweg) pointing to the right. Follow this path as it winds up the hill, offering stunning views of Heidelberg along the way. The walk will take approximately 30 minutes.

    From the main train station (Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof), take tram line 5 towards 'Heidelberg Ziegelhausen' and get off at the stop 'Philosophenweg'. This journey takes about 10-15 minutes. After exiting the tram, follow the signs for the Philosophers’ Way, which is located just a short walk from the tram stop. The path will lead you through beautiful scenic views of the city and the river.

    If you are in the city center (Bismarckplatz), walk towards the main road (B37) and head east towards the Neckar river. Once you reach the river, turn left towards the 'Alte Brücke' (Old Bridge). Cross the bridge and, after crossing, follow the path to your right that leads upwards. This path will lead you directly to the Philosophers' Way. The total walking distance from Bismarckplatz is about 1 kilometer and will take approximately 20 minutes.
