Getting There

• Public Transport

  From Heidelberg, make your way to the Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (main train station). You can walk to the station from most central locations in Heidelberg, following signs to the Hauptbahnhof. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Mannheim (Mannheim Hbf). Trains run frequently, usually every 20-30 minutes. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Upon arrival at Mannheim Hbf, exit the station and look for the tram stop right outside. Take tram line 1 (in the direction of Mannheim, Paradeplatz) or tram line 2 (in the direction of Mannheim, Strohstraße). Get off the tram at the stop 'Friedrichsplatz'. The Wasserturm Mannheim will be directly in front of you as you exit the tram.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from various rental services in Heidelberg. Head towards the Neckar River and follow the bike path along the riverbank towards Mannheim. The route is approximately 20 kilometers and takes about an hour, depending on your cycling speed. As you approach Mannheim, follow signs towards the city center. Once in Mannheim, continue towards Friedrichsplatz, where the Wasserturm is located.

• Walking

  If you're feeling adventurous and want to walk to Mannheim, start from central Heidelberg and head towards the Neckar River. Follow the river paths, which are scenic and pedestrian-friendly. The distance to Mannheim is about 20 kilometers, so it may take around 4-5 hours on foot. You’ll pass through some beautiful landscapes. Once you reach Mannheim, navigate towards the city center and look for Friedrichsplatz where the Wasserturm is located. It's a prominent landmark, so you should be able to see it from a distance.
