The Majestic Loreley: A Scenic Viewpoint Over the Rhine

Getting There

• Train

  From Koblenz main train station (Koblenz Hbf), take a regional train towards Bingen. You will need to get off at the train station called 'St. Goar'. This journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at St. Goar station, exit the station and look for the signs directing you to the ferry terminal. It’s about a 10-minute walk down the hill. Follow the signs towards the Rhine River, and you will find the ferry that crosses to the Loreley area.

• Ferry

  After reaching the ferry terminal at St. Goar, purchase a ticket for the ferry that goes to Loreley. The ferry ride takes around 20 minutes and provides stunning views of the Rhine River and surrounding hills. Once you arrive at Loreley, you will disembark near the observation deck, which is well-marked and accessible.

• Bus

  Alternatively, after getting off the train at St. Goar, you can take a local bus to Bornich. The bus stop is located near the train station. Check the local bus schedule, as buses may not run frequently. The bus ride will take about 15 minutes. Get off at the Bornich stop, and follow the signs leading to the Loreley observation deck, which is only a short walk from the bus stop.

• Walking

  If you are feeling adventurous and want to walk, from Koblenz, you can follow the scenic Rhine River path. This route is approximately 30 kilometers and can take about 6 hours. It is a beautiful walk along the river, but ensure you have enough time and water. You can also break the journey into sections, stopping in villages along the way. Make sure to check your map for the best walking routes.
