If you are near the city center, take the U-Bahn (subway) Line U6 from Marienplatz station towards Klinikum Großhadern. Get off at the stop called 'Universität'. From there, exit the station and walk towards the north through the university area until you reach the entrance of the English Garden. It should take about 10-15 minutes on foot.
