Fischbrunnen: A Captivating Fountain in Munich's Heart

Getting There

• U-Bahn

  Take the U-Bahn (subway) to Marienplatz station, which is on lines U5, U6, U7, and U8. Once you arrive at Marienplatz, exit the train and follow the signs to the Marienplatz exit. As you emerge from the station, you will be in the heart of Munich. Head towards the large square directly in front of you, where you will see the iconic New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus). The Fischbrunnen is located just to the right of the New Town Hall, near the base of the building.

• Tram

  If you are near a tram line, you can take tram lines 19 or 20 to the 'Marienplatz' stop. Once you disembark from the tram, you will find yourself in Marienplatz. Walk towards the New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus) located in the square, and the Fischbrunnen is situated to the right of the hall. It is an easily recognizable fountain amidst the bustling square.

• Bus

  You can take any bus that stops at Marienplatz, including lines 62, 100, or 153. When you arrive at the Marienplatz stop, you will see the main square in front of you. Walk towards the New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus) and look for the Fischbrunnen, which is located to the right side of the hall. The fountain is a prominent feature in the square.

• Walking

  If you are in the Altstadt-Lehel district or nearby areas, walking to Fischbrunnen is a pleasant option. Make your way to Marienplatz, a central square in Munich. Once you reach the square, locate the New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus), which is hard to miss due to its towering presence. The Fischbrunnen is right next to this historic building, so you can simply walk towards it.
