If you are driving from the center of Bochum, take the A40 highway towards Dortmund. After about 10 kilometers, take the exit for Hattingen (A43) and continue on Bredenscheider Str. Follow the signs for Hattingen, and merge onto Kirchplatz after approximately 5 kilometers. The Historische Altstadt Hattingen will be on your right at Kirchpl. 17. There are several parking options available nearby, including street parking and designated lots, which may incur a small fee.

From Bochum, you can take the S-Bahn line S3 towards Hattingen. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Get off at Hattingen station. From the station, you can either walk (approximately 15 minutes) or take a local bus (Line 186) towards 'Hattingen, Kirchplatz.' If you choose to walk, head northwest on Bahnhofstraße, turn left onto Elsenstraße, and continue until you reach Kirchplatz. The Historische Altstadt Hattingen will be located at Kirchpl. 17. Note that a ticket for the S-Bahn costs around €3.00.
