If you're driving from any location in the Upper Palatinate, take the A93 highway towards Rosenheim. Merge onto the A8 towards Munich and then take the A95 towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Follow the B2 and then the B17 towards Schwangau. Once you arrive in Schwangau, follow the signs for Hohenschwangau Castle. There is a parking lot nearby (fees apply, approximately €6 for the day). From the parking area, it’s a 20-minute walk uphill to the castle.

To reach Hohenschwangau Castle using public transport, take a train from your location in the Upper Palatinate to Füssen station. Trains are available from major stations like Regensburg or Landshut, usually requiring a transfer in Munich or Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Once you arrive at Füssen, take bus line 78 towards Hohenschwangau. The bus will drop you off at the bus stop near the ticket center for Hohenschwangau Castle. From there, it's a short walk (about 15 minutes) to the castle entrance.
