Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Würzburg's city center (Marktplatz), head south towards the Residenzplatz. From there, take the Residenzstraße heading west. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with the Juliuspromenade. Turn left onto Juliuspromenade, and follow it until you reach the foot of the hill leading to Marienberg Fortress. You will see the fortress on your left. Follow the signs that lead you up the hill; it takes about 15-20 minutes to walk up.

    From the main train station (Würzburg Hbf), take bus line 14 or 16 towards 'Rottendorf' or 'Heidingsfeld.' Get off at the 'Marienberg' stop. From the bus stop, follow the signs leading to the fortress, which is just a short walk uphill (about 10 minutes).

    From the main train station (Würzburg Hbf), take tram line 1 towards 'Stadtmitte.' Get off at the 'Zellerau' stop. From there, head west along the Zellerau street, then turn right onto the path that leads to Marienberg Fortress. It will take approximately 15-20 minutes to walk up to the fortress from the tram stop.
