From the Garmisch-Partenkirchen train station, take bus #9606 or #5 towards Farchant and get off at the 'Friedhof Partenkirchen' stop. From there, it's approximately a 6-minute walk to the Wankbahn valley station. Alternatively, local bus line 4 or 5 will also take you to the Wankbahn. A single bus fare costs approximately €2-3. If you have a Gastekarte (guest card) provided by your accommodation, bus travel within the region may be free.
Walking
From the Garmisch-Partenkirchen train station, it's approximately a 30-minute walk to the Wankbahn valley station. Head across the Partnach River and follow the signs towards Mount Wank or the Wankbahn. As you approach the mountain, look for the Philosophenweg (Philosopher's Walk), which leads directly to the Wankbahn.
Driving
From Garmisch-Partenkirchen, follow signs for Wankbahn. The Wankbahn valley station is located at Wankbahnstraße 2, 82467 Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Ample parking is available at the Wankbahn valley station (P20), but it is a fee-based parking lot. Parking fees vary, but expect to pay around €3-5 per day.
Cable Car
The final ascent to the summit of Mount Wank requires a ride on the Wankbahn cable car. A round-trip ticket costs approximately €26 for adults. Discounts are available for youths (16-18 years), children (6-15 years), and families. Children under 6 travel free when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Dogs are allowed on the cable car for a one-off charge of €7.
