Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Cape Coast, head east on the N1 highway towards Accra. After about 30 minutes, take the exit towards Abandze. Continue straight until you reach the town. As you enter Abandze, look for signs guiding you to Fort Amsterdam. It will be located just a short drive away from the town center. The drive should take approximately 45 minutes in total.

• Public Transportation (Tro-Tro)

  From Cape Coast, find a tro-tro station that operates routes to Abandze. Board a tro-tro heading towards Abandze, which may take around 30-45 minutes depending on stops. Once you arrive in Abandze, ask locals for directions to Fort Amsterdam; it's a short walk from the tro-tro drop-off point. Expect to pay around GHS 5-10 for the fare.

• Taxi

  You can hire a taxi from anywhere in Cape Coast directly to Fort Amsterdam. Ensure you agree on the fare beforehand; it should cost around GHS 40-60 depending on your starting point and negotiation skills. The taxi ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic.

• Walking

  If you're already in Abandze, Fort Amsterdam is accessible on foot. From the center of town, head towards the coast. Follow the local signs or ask for directions, as the fort is well-known. The walk should take about 20-30 minutes. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated, especially in the warm weather.
