If you are traveling by car, start from any town in the Central Region, such as Cape Coast or Elmina. Head towards Accra using the N1 highway, which is well-marked. Once you reach Accra, follow the signs for Osu. Independence Arch is located at GRX4+JV7, Osu Klottey. You will find the arch easily visible as you approach the area. Parking is available nearby, but be prepared for a small fee, which may vary depending on the time of day.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, board a trotro (shared minibus) heading to Accra from any central location in the region. Make sure to ask for a trotro that goes to Osu or the Central Business District. Once in Accra, you can take a taxi or another trotro to Osu, specifically asking for Independence Arch. The taxi fare should be around 10-20 GHS, while the trotro fare is usually 2-5 GHS. Be mindful of traffic, especially during rush hours.
Walking
If you find yourself in the immediate vicinity of Osu, walking is a pleasant option. From the Osu Castle, which is nearby, head east on Oxford Street. Continue straight for about 10-15 minutes until you reach Independence Arch. This route allows you to enjoy the local atmosphere and possibly stop at shops or cafes along the way.
