Car
If you are driving from Accra, take the N1 highway heading towards Aflao. Continue on the N1 until you reach the junction for the Ho road (N2). Follow the N2 towards Ho. Once you reach Ho, look for signs leading to Afadjato. You will need to turn onto the Afadjato road, which is well-marked. The drive takes approximately 3-4 hours, depending on traffic. Once you reach the base of the mountain, there is a parking area where you can leave your car.
Public Transportation
From Accra, take a bus to Ho. Several bus companies operate this route, and the journey typically takes around 3-4 hours. Once in Ho, you can hire a taxi to take you to Mount Afadjato. The taxi ride will take about 30 minutes. Make sure to agree on a fare before starting your journey, as taxis in this area may not use meters. The taxi will drop you off at the base of the mountain, where you will find a parking area and guides available for hire.
Hiking
After reaching the base of Mount Afadjato, you will need to hike to the summit. The trail is well-marked and usually takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to reach the top, depending on your fitness level. It's advisable to hire a local guide, which typically costs around 20 GHS to 50 GHS, depending on the negotiation. Guides can provide valuable information about the area and ensure your safety.
