Car
If you are driving from Accra, take the N1 highway towards Tema. Continue on the N1 for about 30 km, then take the exit towards the N2. Follow the N2 highway for about 20 km until you reach the town of Atimpoku. Once in Atimpoku, look for signs directing you to the Atakwame Island waterfront. Parking is available near the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Atakwame Island via public transportation from Accra, head to the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and find a trotro (shared minibus) heading towards Akosombo or Atimpoku. The fare is approximately 5-10 GHS. Inform the driver you are going to Atimpoku. Upon arrival in Atimpoku, walk towards the riverfront. You may need to ask locals for the exact location of Atakwame Island, which is a short walk from the main road.
Boat
If you are in the vicinity of the Volta River, you can also reach Atakwame Island by boat. Look for local boat services operating from Atimpoku. The boat ride typically costs around 10-20 GHS per person, depending on the service provider. Make sure to negotiate the price before boarding.
