Getting There

  • Car

    From Sogakope, head north on the main road (the Akatsi-Sogakope road). Continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach the junction for Dzolokpuita. Turn right at the Dzolokpuita junction and follow the road for approximately 2 kilometers. You will see signs pointing towards Akome waterfall. As you approach, look for the RF56+2V marker on your GPS which indicates you are close. There is a small parking area near the waterfall where you can leave your vehicle.

  • Public Transportation (Tro-Tro)

    From Sogakope, you can take a tro-tro (shared minibus) heading towards Dzolokpuita. Tro-tros usually depart from designated stations in Sogakope, such as near the central market. Get on the tro-tro, and the fare is typically around 2 GHS. Inform the driver or the mate (assistant) that you are going to Dzolokpuita. After about 20 minutes, you will arrive at Dzolokpuita. From there, you can either walk (about 30 minutes) towards the waterfall following local signs or hire a local motorcycle taxi (okada) for approximately 5 GHS to take you directly to the waterfall.

  • Walking

    If you are already in Dzolokpuita, you can walk to Akome waterfall from the main road. Head west from the center of Dzolokpuita towards the RF56+2V coordinates. Follow the dirt path that leads through the local area, and ask locals for directions towards the waterfall. This walk can take around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your pace.
