Car
If you are traveling by car within the Volta Region, head towards the town of Mepe. From Ho, take the N1 highway heading east. After approximately 50 kilometers, take the exit towards Mepe. Follow the signs to Mepe, and once you enter the town, look for local signposts indicating Keta Lagoon Protected Area. The protected area is located at WQRR+5G8, which is around 8 kilometers from the center of Mepe. You can expect to drive through some rural areas, so please be cautious of pedestrians and livestock.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a shared taxi or a trotro (minibus) from Ho to Mepe. Trotros frequently leave from the Ho main station. The fare is typically around 5 GHS. Once you arrive in Mepe, you can either walk to the Keta Lagoon Protected Area, which is about 8 kilometers away, or hire a local taxi for approximately 20-30 GHS to take you directly to WQRR+5G8.
Walking from Mepe
If you prefer to walk from Mepe to Keta Lagoon Protected Area, head southeast on the main road out of Mepe. The walk is about 8 kilometers and should take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Be sure to carry water and wear comfortable shoes. Keep an eye out for local wildlife and enjoy the natural scenery along the way.
