Car
If you are traveling by car, start from any major town in the Western North Region, such as Sefwi Wiawso or Bibiani. Head south on the main road (N1) toward Takoradi. Continue on the N1 until you reach the junction for Elmina (about 2.5 hours drive). Turn left onto the road leading to Elmina. Follow the signs for Elmina Castle. Upon entering Elmina, you will see the castle on your right. There is a parking area available nearby.
Public Transportation
To reach Elmina Castle via public transportation, start by taking a shared taxi or bus to Takoradi from your location in the Western North Region. Once in Takoradi, transfer to a bus or shared taxi heading to Elmina. The journey from Takoradi to Elmina will take about 1-1.5 hours. Inform the driver of your destination, and they will drop you off close to the castle. From there, it is a short walk to the castle entrance.
Walking
If you are already in Elmina and need to walk to the castle, head towards the coast from the town center. Follow the main road signs pointing to Elmina Castle. It is located at 3MM2+4R3, Elmina. The walk should take around 15-20 minutes depending on your starting point. Make sure to enjoy the scenic coastal views along the way.
