Getting There

  • Walking

    From the entrance to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, follow the walking path uphill towards Half Way Battery. The walk is moderately steep and takes approximately 20 minutes. Ensure you have water and wear appropriate footwear. Note that a Nature Reserve ticket is required to access the area.

  • Public Transport

    Take a bus from Sandy Bay towards Gibraltar's city center. Routes 2 or 4 will work. Get off at the stop closest to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve entrance. From there, walk uphill to reach Half Way Battery, which takes about 20 minutes. A single bus fare is approximately £2.50. A Nature Reserve ticket is also required.

  • Driving

    From Sandy Bay, head northwest on the main road, following signs towards the city center and then the A1 road. Look for signs directing you to Half Way Battery as you approach the Rock of Gibraltar. Park near the entrance to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. Parking fees may apply, approximately £2-£5. From the parking area, it is a 20-minute hike uphill to Half Way Battery. Note that a Nature Reserve ticket and parking fees are required.
