Douglas Lookout: Gibraltar's Panoramic Vista
Experience breathtaking panoramic views of Gibraltar, the Mediterranean Sea, and the African coast from the historic Douglas Lookout.
Douglas Lookout is an essential stop for tourists seeking stunning views and a unique perspective of Gibraltar. Located at an elevated position on the Rock of Gibraltar, it provides a peaceful and serene setting to relax and take in the beauty of the surroundings. From this vantage point, visitors can see the cityscape, the Mediterranean Sea, and the distant coast of Africa. The lookout is easily accessible and is a great spot for photography enthusiasts looking to capture memorable moments. The advance lookout post is a small sentry post with a conical roof, likely of Moorish origins. It stands to the North of Mount Misery, connecting to Douglas's Path. This particular lookout provided a 360° view of the Mediterranean, Strait, and Bay of Gibraltar. Douglas Path itself connects a series of military installations at the top of the Rock of Gibraltar. It leads from the top of Charles V Wall to Mount Misery before proceeding southwards to end at Douglas Cave. The path was cut by convict labor to facilitate troop movements on the Upper Rock. Whether you visit during the day to admire the clear blue skies and sparkling waters or in the evening to witness a spectacular sunset, Douglas Lookout promises an unforgettable experience for travelers of all ages.
