Discover more about Gibraltar Cable Car

The Gibraltar Cable Car offers a thrilling ride to the summit of the Rock of Gibraltar, providing unparalleled views of the surrounding landscapes. In just six minutes, the cable car ascends 412 meters (1,352 feet) to the Top Station, where you can witness two continents (Europe and Africa), two bodies of water (the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean), and three countries (Gibraltar, Spain, and Morocco). Built in 1966 by Von Roll, a Swiss cable car manufacturer, the Gibraltar Cable Car was initially intended for military purposes but soon opened to the public. The cable cars have been upgraded since then, with the most recent renovation of the Top Station in 2007. At the Top Station, visitors can explore various terraces offering unique viewpoints, enjoy refreshments at the Top of the Rock Café, and browse souvenirs at the Top of the Rock Shop. The station also provides access to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, where you can encounter the famous Barbary macaques, visit St. Michael's Cave, and explore historical military sites such as the Great Siege Tunnels. A multimedia tour, available in multiple languages, enhances the experience with insights into Gibraltar's history and landmarks. The cable car typically runs every 10 minutes, providing a continuous service throughout the day.
