Bus
If you are in Heraklion, take the KTEL bus from the Heraklion Bus Station to Rethymno. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the Rethymno bus station, exit the station and walk straight towards the main road (Leoforos Ethnikis Antistaseos). From there, turn left and walk towards the old town. Follow the signs directing you to the Fortezza, which is located about a 15-minute walk from the bus station.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Rethymno. Simply tell the driver you want to go to the Fortezza of Rethymnon. The ride should take around 10 minutes from the center of Rethymno.
Walking
If you are already in the old town of Rethymno, the Fortezza is easily accessible on foot. Start at the central square (Plateia 25is Martiou) and head towards the coast. From there, follow the signs towards the Fortezza. The entrance is located at the westernmost point of the old town, and you will enjoy beautiful views along the way.
