If you are in Heraklion, head to the central bus station (Ktel Heraklion) located at 1, 62 Martyron Avenue. Take the bus to Matala, which operates regularly throughout the day. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Matala, follow the signs towards the beach, which is approximately a 15-minute walk from the bus station.
Taxi
From any location in Crete, you can take a taxi to Matala beach. If you are in a major city like Heraklion or Chania, taxis can be found at designated taxi stands or called via a local taxi service. The drive will take around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your starting point. Inform the driver you want to go to Matala beach.
Walking
If you are already in Matala, you can easily reach Matala beach on foot. From the village center, walk towards the coast; follow the signs that lead you to the beach. It’s a straightforward route and will take you about 10-15 minutes.

For a more adventurous option, you can rent a bicycle in Matala. There are several rental shops located near the village center. Once you have your bike, head towards the beach; it's just a short ride and will take you about 5 minutes to reach Matala beach.
