Public Bus
From the center of Heraklion, walk to the main bus station (KTEL) located at 140 Ikarou Street. Look for buses heading towards Rethymno. Purchase a ticket from the kiosk or the bus driver. The journey takes about an hour. Inform the driver that you are going to 'Geropotamos' or ask them to let you know when you reach the stop for canyon Margaritsano. Once you arrive at the stop, you will need to walk approximately 15 minutes to the canyon entrance.
Taxi
You can take a taxi directly from any location in Heraklion. Just tell the driver you want to go to 'canyon Margaritsano' in Geropotamos. The journey takes about 45 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting your trip, or ask to use the meter.
Walking from Nearby Town
If you are staying in nearby towns such as Panormos, you can walk to the canyon. From Panormos, head east towards the coast, following the signs for Geropotamos. The walk will take approximately an hour and a half, so ensure you have comfortable shoes and water. Look out for the signs leading you to the canyon once you reach the outskirts of Geropotamos.
