The Old Town of Kavala is best explored on foot, starting from Karaoli Square. From there, walk up Theodorou Poulidou Street, passing the Imaret and the House of Mohammed Ali. Continue towards the Church of Panagia, the Lighthouse, and the Fortress, enjoying the scenic views along the way. The entire route can be completed in a few hours, allowing ample time to soak in the atmosphere and discover hidden gems.

Public Transport
If arriving by bus at the KTEL station (Mitropolitou Chrisostomou 2-4), take a local bus towards the city center. Alight at Eleftherias Square and walk towards the Old Town, following the coastal road. A single bus ticket costs around €1.20. Alternatively, the miniature train offers a free ride around the Old Town, departing from the Ethniki Bank of Greece on Eleftherias Square.

Taxis are readily available in Kavala and can be hailed from the street or booked via phone. A taxi ride from the KTEL bus station to the Old Town costs approximately €5-€10, depending on traffic and time of day. Taxi ranks are located at Averof 4 and Eleftheriou Venizelou 50.
