Walking
From the parking area near the causeway in Gefyra, cross the short bridge connecting to Monemvasia. Follow the road towards the rock, passing through the modern village. Continue along the paved path until you reach the Z-shaped main gate of the Lower Town. The walk from Gefyra to the gate is approximately 20 minutes.
Public Transport
Local buses connect Gefyra with Sparta and Athens. From the bus stop in Gefyra, walk across the causeway to Monemvasia and follow the road to the main gate (approximately 20 minutes). Bus tickets from Sparta to Monemvasia cost around €3-€5.
Taxi
Taxis are available in Gefyra. A short taxi ride from Gefyra to the entrance of Monemvasia's Lower Town will cost approximately €5-€10. Note that taxis cannot enter the town itself; you will be dropped off near the causeway entrance.
Parking
Parking is available in the new town of Gefyra, or along the road between the causeway and the gate to the Lower Town. Parking can be difficult, especially in the summer. Parking is free. From the parking area, walk across the causeway to the main gate (approximately 20 minutes).
