Car
If you are driving, start from the town of Litochoro. Take the E95 highway towards Dion and follow signs for Mount Olympus National Park. Once you reach the entrance of the park, continue on the main road until you reach the Prionia parking area (approximately 15 km from Litochoro). This parking area is the primary starting point for the hike to Κορυφή Σκούρτα. Note that parking fees may apply, typically around €3-€5 per day.
Hiking
From Prionia, follow the well-marked E4 hiking trail towards the Refuge A (Καταφύγιο Πετρόστρουγκα). The hike to the refuge takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you reach the Refuge A, take a short break and prepare for the ascent to Κορυφή Σκούρτα. The final ascent to the peak takes approximately 3 to 4 hours and involves some scrambling, so make sure to wear proper hiking gear and carry enough water and snacks.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Thessaloniki to Litochoro (approximately 1.5 to 2 hours). Once in Litochoro, you can either take a taxi or find a local bus that goes to Prionia. Taxis from Litochoro to Prionia typically cost around €20-€30. Be sure to check the local bus schedules, as they may have limited service.
