Car
Start from Litochoro, which is the closest town to Mount Olympus. From Litochoro, take the E65 road heading towards the south. Continue on this road for approximately 7 kilometers until you see signs for the Mount Olympus National Park entrance. Turn onto the relevant access road into the park. Keep driving until you reach the parking area designated for hikers. The GPS coordinates for the parking area are approximately 40.09346, 22.374775. There is no parking fee, but ensure to arrive early as spots can fill quickly, especially during peak season.
Public Transportation
From Thessaloniki, take a train or a bus to Litochoro. The train departs from Thessaloniki's main station and takes about 1.5 hours. Upon reaching Litochoro, you can either walk to the park entrance or take a taxi, which may cost around 10-15 Euros. The taxi will take approximately 10 minutes to reach the parking area at the Mount Olympus National Park entrance.
Hiking
Once you have parked your car or arrived at the park entrance, you will need to hike to Κόψη γομαρόσταλου. The trailhead is well-marked and starts near the parking area. The hike is moderate and takes about 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to wear proper hiking shoes and carry enough water and snacks for the journey. Keep an eye out for trail markers along the way to ensure you stay on the correct path.
