Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, exit the museum and head south on I. Koutouzi Street. Continue straight for about 300 meters until you reach the intersection with the main road, Leoforos Athenon. Turn right onto Leoforos Athenon and walk for another 500 meters until you see signs for the Ancient Olympia archaeological site. Enter the site through the main entrance. Once inside, follow the path leading you to the Temple of Hera, which is well signposted. The Altar of Hera is located just to the left of the Temple, approximately 200 meters from the entrance.

    Starting from the town square of Olympia (Plateia), walk east on the road towards the Ancient Olympia archaeological site. Continue straight for about 600 meters until you reach the entrance. Once inside, follow the path straight ahead towards the Temple of Hera. The Altar of Hera is located nearby, just a short walk from the temple area. Look for signs pointing to the altar.

    If you are near the Hotel Amalia, exit the hotel and head north on the main road, Leoforos Athenon. Walk for approximately 400 meters until you see the entrance to the Ancient Olympia archaeological site on your right. Enter the site and follow the main path which leads to the Temple of Hera. The Altar of Hera will be on your left side as you approach the temple.
