After his death, in accordance with his wishes, his heart was transported to Olympia and placed within the monument.The monument is located near the International Olympic Academy. The Olympic flame, lit in Olympia, is first brought to the marble altar in the Coubertin Grove before proceeding to Athens and the host city.
