Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the main road that runs through the Samaria Gorge. Head towards the village of Chora Sfakion. Once you reach Chora Sfakion, follow the signs for Anopolis. Continue on the road until you arrive at Anopolis Street. The Ruine eines alten Bauernhauses is located at Anopolis St, Sfakia 730 11. Look for parking spots near the village, as parking within the village can be limited.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the Ruine eines alten Bauernhauses via public transportation, take a local bus from Chania to Chora Sfakion. Buses run several times a day, but check the schedule ahead of time. Once you arrive in Chora Sfakion, you can either walk to Anopolis (approximately a 1-hour walk uphill) or take a taxi from the bus station to Anopolis Street. The taxi ride will take about 15 minutes and will cost around 15-20 euros.

• Walking

  If you are already in Samaria Gorge and wish to walk to the Ruine eines alten Bauernhauses, exit the gorge via the Agia Roumeli area and head towards Chora Sfakion. Once you reach Chora Sfakion, follow the directions for public transportation or walking to Anopolis. The walk from Agia Roumeli to Chora Sfakion can take around 1-2 hours depending on your pace. From Chora Sfakion to Anopolis, it will be another hour of uphill walking.
