Discover more about Methana Volcanic Spa

The Methana Volcanic Spa is one of the most well-known thermal springs in Greece, situated in the center of Methana town. The beautiful spa building was constructed in 1930. The area has twenty-five sulfur springs that create the Vromolimnos lake. The waters are milky in color and have a strong hydrogen sulfide odor. The thermal springs have been used for their therapeutic benefits for a variety of ailments for the past 3,000 years, including arthritis, bronchitis, nervous system disorders, rheumatism, and skin conditions. While the main spa building has been closed since 2017, the naturally heated pools remain. The hot springs on the Methana peninsula are a gift from the volcanoes. The identity of Methana is largely defined by its renowned spas, which have seen periods of prosperity and decline over the centuries. Access to the hot springs is free and open to the public at all times. The hot springs are a popular destination for visitors all year long, both day and night. Currently, there are three hot springs on the peninsula. Two are located close to Methana Town on the peninsula's east side. The third lies on the northern coast, near the village of Agios Nikolaos. Each has distinct water characteristics and therapeutic potential. The central spring of the Methana Volcanic Spa and the springs of Agios Nikolaos are the two springs in Methana Town. Pausanias' baths are among Methana's most well-known thermal springs, and they are said to be the world's richest source of silicic acid.
