    The Δημοτικό Πάρκο Συνταγματάρχη (ΜΧ) Κωνσταντίνου Κούρλιου, or Municipal Park of Colonel Konstantinos Kourlios, is a modest yet significant green space in Serres, Greece. This park serves as a memorial to Colonel Konstantinos Kourlios, a native of nearby Mitrousi, who lost his life in Cyprus in 1974. Born in 1937, Konstantinos Kourlios graduated from the Serres Gymnasium and later trained as an engineer. He served as the head of the machine gunners and fell in battle in Cyprus on August 16, 1974, at the age of 37. After 45 years, his remains were repatriated to his birthplace, Mitrousi, and Colonel Kourlios was honored as a hero. Today, the park named in his honor provides a peaceful retreat within the urban landscape of Serres. While small, it offers a space for locals and visitors to pause, relax, and remember the sacrifice of Colonel Kourlios. A marble inscription was recently added to the park to further commemorate his memory.
