Vagonetto Mining Park, situated 51 km from Lamia on the National Road to Amfissa, offers a unique and immersive experience into the world of bauxite mining. Vagonetto was created to preserve and showcase the history of bauxite mining in the Fokida region.The park's origins lie in Tunnel 850, a bauxite mine that operated from the mid-1960s until 1972. In 2003, after reconstruction, Vagonetto opened its doors to the public, offering a glimpse into the lives of the miners who once toiled within its depths. The park features an underground tour through the original mine tunnels, allowing visitors to experience the conditions and challenges faced by the miners.
