The Black Cave (Mavri Spilia) is a historical refuge nestled in a gorge near Prousos, Evrytania. Once a shelter for locals during times of war and occupation, it features a stone wall remnant and a trail leading to waterfalls and lush scenery.

Walking
The Black Cave is accessible via a hiking trail that begins approximately 2 km from Prousos village. From Prousos, follow the road towards Tornos. After about 1.3km, continue straight where the road forks (a right turn leads to Agrinio). Continue for another 0.8km to the Kastania bridge, where you can park your vehicle. Follow the marked footpath with red signs. The hike to the cave takes approximately 30 minutes, passing through a forest and alongside streams.
Taxi
From Karpenisi, a taxi to Prousos village typically costs between €25-€30 and takes around 30 minutes. From Prousos, you will still need to hike to the Black Cave following the walking directions.
