Discover more about Levera National Park

Levera National Park, situated in the northern parish of St. Patrick, is one of Grenada's most scenic and ecologically diverse coastal areas. Established in 1992, the 450-acre park boasts a variety of habitats, including an extensive mangrove swamp, a 23-acre lagoon, pristine beaches, and access to offshore islands. The park's lagoon is a crucial wildlife habitat and a birdwatcher's paradise, attracting species like the Scarlet Ibis, herons, black-necked stilts, and common snipes. The marine areas feature coral reefs and seagrass beds that shelter lobsters and reef fish. From March to July, Levera Beach becomes a nesting ground for endangered leatherback turtles, offering visitors a chance to witness these magnificent creatures. Nighttime excursions are available to observe the nesting process. Visitors can explore the park via walking trails, including a boardwalk that traverses the mangrove swamp. An observation tower provides panoramic views of the area. The park's highest point, Levera Hill, offers stunning vistas of the Caribbean Sea and nearby islands. The park also includes the three offshore islands of Sugar Loaf, Green, and Sandy Islands. Levera National Park is Grenada's only Ramsar site, designated as a Wetland of International Importance. This designation recognizes the area's ecological significance and the need for its protection. The park is a valuable resource for environmental education and interpretation.
