Founded in 1937, it stands as the island's largest and best-known distillery. The distillery's name is derived from Clarke's Court Bay in Woodlands. The name “Court” is believed to have originated from Dutch Colonists who seized the bay in the 1670s, while the name “Clarke” came from Gedney Clarke Esq., who acquired the lands in the 18th century. A visit to Clarke's Court offers a fascinating glimpse into the art and science of rum-making. Guided tours take you behind the scenes, explaining the process from fermentation to distillation and aging. You'll witness how Clarke's Court combines traditional methods with modern technology to produce its rums. The tour also includes a visit to the old steam engines, some dating back to 1886.
