This five-acre garden is a labor of love, showcasing a diverse array of vibrant plants and flowers, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. As you wander through the well-maintained pathways, you'll be greeted by an explosion of colors and scents, with each corner revealing new botanical treasures. The garden boasts a collection of palms, orchids, hibiscus, and bromeliads, creating a lush and captivating landscape. Ponds of koi and tilapia add to the serene atmosphere, while red-footed tortoises and South American parrots can be spotted amongst the trees. Sunnyside Garden also offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. From its elevated location, you can admire the dramatic Mt. Parnassus valley, the Caribbean Sea to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. The garden also features tranquil seating areas where you can unwind and soak in the views. Originally landscaped in the early 1990s, the garden was significantly damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. However, thanks to the dedication of the owners, Jean Renwick and her son Randy, Sunnyside Garden was lovingly restored and continues to thrive. Randy often personally guides visitors through the garden, sharing his knowledge of the local flora and fauna.
