Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Gouyave, take a minibus towards the Mt. Carmel area. Inform the driver you're going to Mt. Carmel Falls. The bus ride is approximately 30 minutes. From the Mt. Carmel bus stop, follow the road and look for signs to the falls, about a 10-15 minute walk. Bus fare is typically around 3-5 EC.

  • Taxi/Car

    From St. George's, the drive to Mt. Carmel Falls is about 45 minutes. Follow the Eastern Main Road towards Grenville. The entrance to the falls is just off the main road, but can be easily missed. Look for a sign and local people who can direct you. Taxi fare from St. George's is approximately 80-100 EC. Parking is available near the entrance.

Mt. Carmel Falls, also known as Marquis Falls, is located on the eastern side of Grenada, near Grenville. Plunging 70 feet, it is the tallest waterfall on the island. The falls cascade over a precipitous rock block into a natural pool surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene and picturesque setting.The journey to the falls is an easy 10-20 minute hike through a private plantation, passing through hills and valleys. The trail is generally well-marked, but can be muddy, so appropriate footwear is recommended. Along the way, you might encounter local vendors and be offered guiding services. However, a guide is not necessary to reach the falls.Upon arrival, visitors can swim in the refreshing natural pool at the base of the falls or stand under the cascading water for a natural massage. For the adventurous, there are natural water slides carved into the rocks, located a short distance from the main falls. A smaller, lower waterfall can also be found by crossing the river along the main path. Mt. Carmel Falls offers a tranquil and less crowded alternative to some of Grenada's more popular waterfalls, providing a peaceful nature experience.
