Gadao's Cave, also known as Liyang Gadao, is located near the village of Inalåhan in Guam and stands as a significant cultural and natural landmark. This cave is more than just a geological formation; it's a window into the ancient Chamorro civilization, with rock art that tells stories of the island's past. The cave was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1974.The cave features approximately 50 pictographs, created using a mixture of coral lime and tree sap. These drawings, ranging from 2 to 20 centimeters, depict human-like and animal-like figures, as well as geometric shapes. The most famous images are those of two human figures, believed to represent Chief Gadao and Chief Malaguaña from Chamorro legends.The cave itself is relatively small, with the entrance measuring about 3 meters wide and 2 meters high. Inside, you'll find impressive stalactites and stalagmites, formed over centuries. The tranquil atmosphere and the sound of dripping water add to the mystical experience. The surrounding area is perfect for hiking and enjoying Guam's natural beauty.Gadao's Cave is easily accessible via a short hike from the road. The site is near a ruined ancient Chamorro village and a statue of Chief Gadao.

The walk is approximately 15 minutes from the nearest bus stop on Route 4. Be cautious as there may not be sidewalks. The path to the cave can be rocky and uneven, so wear appropriate footwear.
Public Transport
To reach Gadao's Cave via public transport, take the bus route that goes south towards Inalåhan. Check the local bus schedule for times. Get off at the stop nearest to Route 4. From there, walk approximately 0.5 miles along Route 4 towards Gadao's Cave, following the signs. Be aware that there may not be sidewalks, so please be cautious while walking. Bus fares are generally around $3 per ride.

Taxis are available in Guam. From major hotels or shopping centers, a taxi to Inalåhan and Gadao's Cave can be arranged.
