Getting there

Walking

From the Tumon Sands Plaza, walk north along the coastline for about 10 minutes until you reach Gongna Beach. The gun emplacement is located on the beach and is visible as you approach.

Public Transport

Take a bus from the nearest bus stop in Tamuning towards Tumon. Get off at the stop nearest to the Tumon Sands Plaza. From there, walk north along the coastline for about 10 minutes until you reach Gongna Beach. The bus fare is typically around $2.

Car

Drive north on Route 1 (Marine Corps Drive) from Tamuning Beach for about 3.5 miles. Turn right onto Route 1A and after about 0.5 miles, find the parking area near the entrance to Gongna Beach. From the parking area, walk towards the coastline to find the Gongna Beach Gun Emplacement. Parking is usually free.

Gongna Beach Gun Emplacement, or Gun Beach, is a historical landmark in Tumon, Guam, that offers a compelling look into the island's past during World War II. The site features the remains of a Japanese gun emplacement, a pillbox, and a gun mount, constructed by the Imperial Japanese Army during their occupation of Guam from 1941 to 1944. These structures served as defensive fortifications and played a crucial role in the island's defense.The gun emplacement consists of two reinforced concrete walls that once flanked a Japanese 20 cm gun. A partially collapsed pillbox, connected by a covered way, provided additional protection.
