Cetti Bay, located near Umatac on Guam's southwest coast, is more than just a scenic spot; it's a journey through time. The bay and its surrounding area are listed on the Guam and National Registers of Historic Places, recognized for their cultural and historical significance. In ancient times, Cetti Bay was the site of the Chamorro village of Atte, which sided with rebel Chamorros during the Chamorro-Spanish Wars. The coastal area around Cetti Bay has been inhabited by Chamorros for approximately 3,000 years. Latte stones and pottery shards provide the evidence. The Spanish later created a road system which followed the coastline from Hagatna, south through Cetti Bay to Umatac. Today, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the coastline and the Pacific Ocean from the Cetti Bay Overlook. The overlook offers views of the volcanic rock formations, including the pillow lava formations of Attelong Acho (Black Rock) to the north. In the distance to the south, Cocos Island is visible.
