Fouha Point Travel Guide

Fouha Point, a towering rock formation rising 150 feet above Fouha Bay, is more than just a scenic landmark; it's a place where the ancient Chamorro creation story comes to life. According to legend, Fu'una, the goddess of creation, sacrificed herself to create the universe with her brother Puntan. Her final act was to throw herself into the earth, transforming into Fouha Rock, also known as Lasso' Fu'a, from which the first humans emerged.Designated a National Natural Landmark in 1972, Fouha Point offers visitors a chance to connect with nature and Chamorro culture. The hike to the rock is relatively easy, winding through grassy hills and clusters of coconut and banana trees before descending to the secluded bay. The trail begins near the Guam Power Authority substation WBP-2, just north of Umatac Bay.Fouha Bay itself holds thousands of years of history and is considered a spiritually powerful site by the Chamorro people. Archaeological artifacts line the bay, testaments to the vibrant ancient Chamorro presence. Even today, Fouha Rock remains an important part of Chamorro culture, with many keeping the traditions alive through pilgrimage, song, dance, and offerings.
