Discover more about Ritidian Beach, Scenic Point

Ritidian Beach, cradled within the Guam National Wildlife Refuge on the northern tip of Guam, is a destination that seamlessly blends natural beauty with a rich tapestry of history. The beach itself boasts powdery, white sand meeting the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Pacific, inviting visitors to unwind and soak in the serene atmosphere. Beyond the shoreline, Ritidian reveals its historical significance as the site of a thriving ancient Chamorro village, predating the arrival of the Spanish in 1521 by over 600 years. Archaeological discoveries, including latte stones, pottery fragments, and ancient fishing camps, offer glimpses into the island's past. The name Ritidian may be derived from the Chamorro word “Litekyan,” meaning to stir, referencing the churning waters off the coast. Nature enthusiasts will find plenty to explore within the 1,203-acre wildlife refuge. Maintained trails wind through lush coconut groves and limestone forests, home to native species like Marianas fruit bats, tree snails, and blue-banded king crow butterflies. The Latte Loop Trail leads past a preserved latte stone and a Spanish stone well, while the Ritidian Caves Trail ends at a grotto-like opening in the limestone cliffs. While swimming is generally good, visitors should be mindful of rip currents. The beach is part of a wildlife refuge, so you might spot unique birds or even sea turtles.
