Jeff's Pirates Cove: A Guam Landmark

Jeff's Pirates Cove is more than just a restaurant; it's a cultural center and historical site on Guam's southern coast. Since 1979, Jeff's has been a beloved destination, offering a unique blend of beachfront dining, a fascinating seaside museum, and a lively pirate-themed atmosphere. The cove's history stretches back long before Jeff Pleadwell established his Pirates Cove. The area was once an ancient Chamorro village and a purported mooring location for Malay pirates. After World War II, the U.S. Military used the site as a Fleet Reserve Rehab Center. Jeff Pleadwell arrived on Guam in 1962 and, after working in the restaurant industry, purchased the Pirates Cove in 1979, renaming it Jeff's Pirates Cove. Today, visitors can explore the Seaside Museum, which houses a collection of artifacts, including glass fishing floats, stone tools, and items related to Sergeant Yokoi, a Japanese soldier who hid in Guam's jungles for 28 years after WWII. The museum also features a "Yokoi's true story wall". The restaurant is known for its BBQ, burgers, seafood, and Greek cuisine, with indoor and outdoor seating offering ocean views. The pirate-themed gift shop offers souvenirs and apparel. Jeff's Pirates Cove hosts various events, including weddings, parties, and concerts.
