Getting There

  • Car

    From the Ixil Triangle, head towards the town of Chajul and take the road to Santa Maria Nebaj. Continue on this road until you reach the junction to the Pan American Highway (CA-1). Turn right onto the highway and continue towards Solola. After passing through Solola, follow the signs to Panajachel. Once in Panajachel, look for signs to 'Reserva Natural Atitlán' located at Antigua Finca San Buenaventura. The entrance is easily accessible from the main road.

    To reach Reserva Natural Atitlán from the Ixil Triangle using public transportation, first take a 'pick-up' truck or a mini-bus from your location (Chajul or Nebaj) to Panajachel. The fare is approximately 25-35 Quetzales, depending on your starting point. Once you arrive in Panajachel, you can either walk or take a tuk-tuk to Antigua Finca San Buenaventura where the reserve is located. The walk is about 15-20 minutes from the main bus terminal.
