Car
From the Ixil Triangle region, take Route 9 towards the town of Santa María Nebaj. Drive for approximately 15 km until you reach the intersection with Route 14. Turn left onto Route 14 and continue to drive for about 40 km until you reach the intersection with Route 9 again. Turn right onto Route 9 and follow the signs towards Flores. After approximately 70 km, you will reach the town of Flores. From Flores, follow the signs to Tikal National Park, which is roughly 65 km away. The drive into the park takes you through beautiful landscapes, so enjoy the scenery. Be aware that there is an entrance fee to Tikal National Park, which is around 150 Q for foreign visitors.
Public Transportation
To reach Tikal National Park from the Ixil Triangle using public transportation, you can take a bus from Santa María Nebaj to Flores. First, head to the main bus terminal in Nebaj. Buses to Flores operate regularly and the journey takes about 2 to 3 hours. Upon arrival in Flores, you can find buses or shuttles that go to Tikal National Park. These shuttles typically leave from the main square in Flores and the ride to the park takes about 1 hour. Make sure to check the schedule, as the last shuttle might leave in the early afternoon. The entrance fee to Tikal is about 150 Q for foreign tourists.
